Belizean Guides Who Never Stop Learning
At St. Leonard’s Tours, guiding is treated as a craft. Rodolfo and Carla Juan continue learning about Belize’s archaeology, history, wildlife and culture—including attending the Belize Archaeology Symposium—and bring that knowledge into tours from the San Ignacio area and across Cayo.
Keep Learning
Continuing education and participation in the Belize Archaeology Symposium deepen the knowledge Rodolfo and Carla share with guests.
Pass It On
Years of guiding experience are shared with younger Belizean guides learning the trade, helping pass local knowledge and good guiding practice forward.
Care for the Work
The same responsibility extends to the horses they care for, the places they visit and the guests they guide.
For guests, that means more than transportation between attractions: it means having people with you who can explain what you are seeing, answer questions and make room for curiosity.

Practical answers about pickup, timing, activity levels, what to bring, and the details worth knowing before choosing your Belize tour.
Where do you pick up guests in San Ignacio?
Most St. Leonard’s tours include pickup and drop-off in San Ignacio Town. Pickup outside town may be available for an additional fee depending on the location and the tour. Check the individual tour page for the exact pickup area, and contact us before booking if you are staying at a rural lodge or elsewhere in Cayo.
How long should I allow for a tour?
It depends on the experience. A relaxed horseback ride may take only part of the day, while ATM Cave, Caracol, and combination tours can take most of the day. Each tour page gives the expected total duration so you can plan meals, transfers, and other activities around it.
Which St. Leonard’s tour is right for me?
For a relaxed outdoor experience, start with a jungle or riverside horseback ride. For Maya history, consider Xunantunich or Cahal Pech. Cave tubing combines a jungle walk with an underground river experience, while ATM Cave is the more physically demanding option. Full-day combinations are useful when you want to experience more than one side of Cayo in a single day.
Do I need to swim, hike, or be very fit?
Activity levels vary considerably. Cave tubing includes walking and time in the water; Maya sites involve uneven ground and steps; horseback tours have rider requirements; and ATM Cave involves hiking, water crossings, and more demanding movement. Every tour page lists its activity level and any important height, weight, footwear, or mobility requirements.
What is included, and what should I bring?
Inclusions vary by tour and may include San Ignacio transport, entrance fees, licensed guiding, activity equipment, bottled water, and lunch. Bring comfortable clothing, sun and insect protection, and secure footwear. Water-based tours may also require water-friendly shoes and a change of clothes. The exact included and bring-along lists are shown on each tour page.
What happens if weather or my travel plans change?
Weather can affect river, cave, road, and site conditions in Belize. If conditions may affect your tour—or your own travel plans change—contact St. Leonard’s as early as possible so the team can confirm what is operating and discuss the available options. Review the current cancellation and rescheduling terms before booking.
